Snetterton 1 September 2007

New Era GP250

I didn't see the point including a title referring to the British GP250 Championship because we didn't get that far through the weekend. Instead play was halted after a relatively slow crash coming out of Russels which had a knock on effect (literally) meaning we were not able to compete the following day.

Family commitments and some communication problems meant preparations were rather stressful for Snetterton. Despite this a positive outlook was maintained and after a diversion off the M25 we arrived before midnight on Friday (thanks to Nigel Lawrance, fellow racer and good friend, for joining me at Snetterton).

With a relatively early start scheduled the next day we unloaded the bike and setup the caravan before turning in around 1:30am.

A good night's sleep was had and around 8am we started preparations for the day. All went to plan and we were ready for GP250 & 600 practice (timed) around 10:50am. Feeling the affects slightly from the build up to the meeting I didn't feel too 'alert' on the bike but made sure I concentrated on several bike changes since Anglesey - bedding in new fr pads, making sure new pistons/rings were ok (no water leaks from loose cylinder nuts this time!), gearing changes, suspension changes, smoothing off old/spun tyres and getting used to Snetterton on a 250 again. A respectible lap 1:14.7 was completed after around 10 laps.
