Round Three Silverstone Showers

Round three of ACU Dunlop Tyres MotoStar's Replicast UK / Biksport News British 250 Championship was regrettably abandoned due to adverse weather conditions.

One eye witness described the downpour, at Silverstone, as "one months worth of rain in a day" and so resulting in far too much standing water to safely continue proceedings.

The meeting, however, did not go without it's merits.  ABS Racing were able to gain valuable wet weather experience and data for the Yamaha TZ250.  These should help Alex Symon in the long term progression in the British 250 Championship as well as if a wet race arises later in the season.

As the rain steadily came down, on the slippery Silverstone surface, Alex completed two sessions before the final decision was taken to call an end to the days racing.

In the first practice session on track Alex managed a fastest lap of 1:19.01 and then, in even wetter conditions, 1:26.66 during qualifying to line up in twentieth place on the grid (click here for full results).  Unfortunately, we can only guess as to  how the day would have progressed as anything is possible when the red lights go out!

ABS Racing now has a long break before round four at Oulton Park in nearly two months time.  Hopefully by then this website will have been updated further with pictures, biography, diary entries and even more statistics.  Watch this space for any news in the meantime...
